History of “The Barn

The Barn” was built in 1910 and was originally used to house forty mules.  Sitting on the grounds of an old Civil War era plantation, “The Barn” is only a couple of miles from the Andersonville National Cemetery, site of the Confederate Andersonville Prison camp and the National Prisoner of War Museum.

The 50’ x 80’ structure was constructed using lumber grown on the plantation.  Some of the boards used in its construction were cut from trees that were already well over one hundred years old at the time of their cutting in the early 1900s.

The Barn” is adjacent to the original plantation mansion, which is now the residence of Mr. Paul Hall, the owner and visionary of “The Barn” and the founder of SweetWater Ministries

Today, “The Barn” serves as the home of the gospel group SweetWater, an extension of SweetWater  Ministries, and is the site of periodic concerts featuring popular Southern Gospel groups from throughout the country .
